Whether you’re young or simply young at heart, everyone knows Mario. The short Italian mustachioed
plumber has been serving up fun for over 35 years.
And while it’s always exciting to defeat Bowser and rescue Princess Peach in the flagship solo games,
there’s a special type of magic to be had when playing a Mario game with friends and family.
The following is a list of the top 5 Mario multiplayer games, ranging from various consoles, and in no
particular order:
Mario Party 3 (N64)
Arguably the favorite of the storied Mario Party franchise, the third game in the series perfects the party
formula by offering solid gameplay in the form of fun, challenging minigames. Select from a roster of
iconic characters – including the titular Mario, Luigi, Peach, Donkey Kong, and the first appearance of
Wario’s brother Waluigi. Compete in some of the best minigames the franchise has to offer, from Eatsa
Pizza to Aces High.
Mario Kart 64 (N64)
Mario Kart got an upgrade in a huge way when it made the leap from 2D to 3D in Mario Kart 64. A
regular entry in the competitive tournament circuit, Mario Kart 64’s claim to fame is its memorable
battle modes that revs up the excitement from 0 to 100 and gets a crowd ready for full-throttle fun!
Mario Kart 8 (Nintendo Switch)
The latest in the Mario Kart franchise, Mario Kart 8 improves on everything from the Wii U version,
while adding in some unique and exciting battle modes, such as Shine Thief, Renegade Roundup and
Bob-Omb Blast. Mario Kart also offers online play for the most competitive of players.
Mario Tennis Aces (Nintendo Switch)
Mario Tennis makes its debut on the Nintendo Switch with Mario Tennis Aces. This updated version
includes all-new characters and allows you to use the motion-control features of the Joy-Con controllers
for a truly immersive gameplay experience. With both local co-op, vs. mode and online play capabilities,
Mario Tennis Aces is sure to be a grand slam with any sports-loving group!
Mario Party 2 (N64)
Mario Party 2 improves on the original in every way. On top of having some of the most diverse mini
games in the series (Honeycomb Havoc, Look Away, Shock, Drop & Roll, Hexagon Heat), the second
Mario Party is also iconic for having some of the most memorable themed boards. Explore 6 different
boards for a unique and exciting gameplay experience: Pirate Land, Western Land, Space Land, Mystery
